A Word from FootHolde's Director
FootHolde’s Coaching Corner is a resource center for ALL coaches. Whatever level you coach at, there are some great articles and sample training sessions that will help you improve your coaching effectiveness. At Footholde, we are dedicated to player development. That being said, coaching educational materials can be very helpful to any coach looking to hone their skills and/or gain new insight into the complexities of training today’s youth players.
FootHolde’s Coaching Corner is divided into two sections: 1) coaching articles and educational materials, and 2) sample training sessions and activities. These resources have been gathered over the years from other coaches, National Staff coaches, publications, memberships, licenses, and so on. They are presented in age-appropriate and other general soccer categories for ALL coaches at ALL levels.
We are in the midst of gathering as many electronic files containing pertinent articles, philosophies, individual training concepts, and team training sessions. If you have any resources and would like to contribute to this open-source method of improving today’s emerging youth soccer, please contact us. We will gladly credit your generosity and do appreciate your help.
I have very few personal training sessions (created myself) in electronic format, and therefore will be working in the near future to make my own library added to this site. If any coach has a problem with their material being presented on this site, please contact us. I will personally take your material off this site.
Keep posted to FootHolde’s Coaching Corner, as we will continually update and add more resources to this site, in our everlasting efforts to develop “the complete player.”
I will end with a beautiful quote from Pele, describing being “in the zone” or in “flow” in his autobiography:
“In the middle of a match, I felt a strange calmness I hadn’t experienced before. It was a type of euphoria. I felt I could run all day without tiring, that I could dribble through any or all of their team, that I could almost pass through them physically. It was a strange feeling and one that I had not had before. Perhaps it was merely confidence, but I have felt confident many times without that strange feeling of invincibility.”
